Whether your preferred mode of transport is on foot or wheels, we all want to travel about safely and get about as easily and efficiently as possible.

In addition to those who need to get to work, school or the shops there are parents with prams, cyclists and runners, dog walkers, users of wheelchairs and mobility scooters and others who have different transport and accessibility needs in the local area.

The shared Multi-Use Path linking up our coastal networks is a community-led initiative which is being developed to provide safe walking, cycling and wheeling routes while encouraging Active Travel to local shops, schools and various places of interest.

The sections of the path that gave been completed so far – linking Kilrenny to Cellardyke and through Anstruther – have already proved to be a great success with visitors and locals alike.

Enabling and encouraging active travel has many benefits and there are plans now to extend the imitative to provide a safe traffic-free route between Anstruther and Pittenweem, which is being fully supported by both community councils because it will help to:

• improve health and wellbeing

• benefit the environment

• improve social inclusion

• promote economic growth

You can find out more about how the path plans are progressing here (this will be link to a Powerpoint or Word doc with the archived minutes on googledrive)
